TEXTURE

Art 2026
This work is an attempt to materialize the Abukuma Mountain Range—which forms the backdrop of Watari—using texts related to the land itself. Texture, Textile, Technology, Tectonic, and Text—these terms all derive from the same ancient Greek root. Whether it is a physical form crafted by human hands, a landscape born of natural geological shifts, or words spun by humans as concepts, all are supported at their core by the same act of genesis. Beyond the distinction of "man-made" versus "natural," these forms converge into a singular mass of meaning: simply "that which has been made." In this, I feel an inherent awe toward the very act of creation.

The Abukuma Mountains serve as the foundation that nurtures the climate, landscape, and culture of Watari. By using texts that document the origins of the land and its impact on human life, I have literally traced the earth's surface to create a 3D-printed relief. By perceiving the land not only through sight but also through touch, the act of trying to "understand" the terrain expands into a visceral, physical experience.

To see, to touch, to create. By reading the land through the process of making, new interpretations are born within me. This repetition has no goal and no limit; it is an endless weaving of the world.
